North Shore Writers Festival April 10-11
The North Shore Writers Festival is back April 10–11 with a full lineup of author talks, workshops, and panels at North Vancouver City Library and NV City Hall. The weekend kicks off Friday the 10th with a night with a lively literary trivia hosted by comedian and author Charlie Demers.
Note: All events are free to attend but do require reservations

🫡 Bye bye Burgoo
We’re losing another one and it’s starting to sting a bit.
After 20 years, Burgoo is closing its North Van location at the end of the month.
It was one of those cozy, dependable spots for amazing comfort food when you didn’t feel like overthinking dinner. Hard not to feel like we’re losing more than a few our “go-to” places lately. They’re open until March 29 if you want to stop in one last time. More info
🙆 StretchLab coming to Central Lonsdale
If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to be professionally stretched, you’ll soon have your chance! StretchLab is opening this spring - one-on-one assisted stretching with a “flexologist.” Someone actually helping your body loosen up - targeting tight spots, improving mobility, and generally helping you move a bit better. They’ll be at 145 13th St East in North Van. More info

Yes. The newsletter will still land in your inbox as usual, and the app will still be updated. However, the newsletter will be a bit leaner than it usually is with out many ‘extras’ - just events, depending on how much time I’ll have.
We’ll definitely be quieter on Instagram int he next couple weeks, and may not be able to respond to emails as quickly.

🥋Farmers Market… But Make It Martial Arts
Let's just say this is not your average farmers market. The Combat Sports Farmers Market is a full-day event March 29 from 10-6 at the Pipeshop with Boxing, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and MMA under one roof. Think: live demos, hands-on workshops, fitness challenges, and a mix of local health and wellness vendors and maybe meet a UFC fighter. Open to all levels whether you want to jump in or just check it out. It’s raising funds for The Hero Initiative, a North Van nonprofit helping youth build confidence and community through martial arts.
🌿 Lynn Canyon Ecology Centre Poster Contest
The Ecology Centre is running a poster contest during Wildlife Weeks - pick a local creature and design a poster around how we can help wildlife. Any art style goes (no AI obvs.). There’s a $50 gift shop prize up for grabs, and every entry gets a vintage button. Submissions are due March 29, so there’s still time for you or your kids to get those creative juices flowing. 🤣 Secret Comedy in Lower Lonsdale
Don’t Tell is s little mysterious pop-up comedy show is happening somewhere in Lower Lonsdale but you won’t know the exact spot until the morning of. The lineup is also a surprise, with a mix of local and touring comedians taking the stage. Friday March 27 at 6:30pm & 9:15pm More info

There wasn’t a clear runaway winner, answers were all over the map, but one name did come up more than the rest: Wildeye Brewing.
So while we can’t officially crown a unanimous nacho king, Wildeye takes the unofficial title for now!
