What’s Happening on the North Shore: February 19 to 25, 2026
Good morning, North Shore Crew! Your weekly cheat-sheet to North & West Van is here. New Here? Subscribe here
Maplewood Farm has a New Horse!
Maplewood Farm has been a mainstay on the North Shore for years, but…did you know?
🐴 They have a new Belgian draft horse named Wilma ready to give older kids and adults rides. They’ve been doing pony rides for a long time, but now parents and older siblings can ride too. Wilma is taking bookings starting in March!
🐰 Maplewood Farm has 100+ animals on the farm, and kids can even feed some of them! There are play and picnic areas to make a full day of it.
🪑 They have event spaces. Yes, we know they do birthdays, but the spaces have been used for receptions, end of life ceremonies, business sessions, you name it. You can rent the spaces for just about anything that requires space.

🤖 Food Delivery Robots Coming to North Van?
North Van City council will soon decide whether to allow autonomous delivery robots on City sidewalks. Serve Robotics wants to partner with Uber Eats and DoorDash to deliver food within 2.5 km of restaurants using (honestly pretty cute) bots that cruise at walking speed.
The City sees potential benefits, especially in areas like Lower Lonsdale where steep hills make deliveries challenging. Counterpoint is that while delivery apps do bring business to local restaurants, they also eat into restaurant profits.
Staff will bring a pilot proposal to council this spring. What do you think? Should the City North Van welcome a robot food delivery fleet?
Should the City of North Van allow robot food delivery?

Good news: the spelt chocolate chunk cookies from Artisan Bake Shoppe are available again at the Bread Quarter (East 14th, across from the RCMP station). After disappearing for a while, the Bread Quarter's owner convinced the baker to keep making them from a ghost kitchen in Burnaby. Limited quantities delivered to select locations only—this being one of them. (source)
