🕐 Last Spring Forward
Good news for clock changing haters: this Sunday, March 8 is the last time British Columbians (on PST) will ever have to spring forward. The Premier announced B.C. is permanently adopting daylight time. The province cited health, wellness, and quality of life as the driving reasons, backed by a 2019 survey where 93% of respondents said they wanted to ditch the twice-yearly change. B.C. will align year-round with the Yukon, and with the hopes our American neighbours will eventually follow suit.
♻️ Value Village
Looks like Value Village is opening across from Salvation Army on Fell in North Van, and people are divided! It will be taking over (at least partially) the old Ginger Jar space. The news stirred up plenty of debate on Reddit, with many pushing back on the for-profit American chain's business practices and pricing. The most common criticism: Value Village isn't a charity, it pays partner organizations pennies on the dollar for donated goods, and then resells them at prices that sometimes rival buying new. Not exactly a warm welcome to the neighbourhood.
