🏊‍♀️ North Van’s Getting a Harbour Pool

What’s happening: North Vancouver just announced plans for a floating harbour swimming deck off Waterfront Park — the first outdoor seawater swimming facility of its kind in B.C. The fully accessible deck will feature 50-metre swim lanes, diving platforms, a shallow leisure pool, and space to lounge - all free to use once it opens in 2027.

Why It Matters: North Van has long been an outdoor swimming desert, with no ocean access between Cates Park and Ambleside. This project changes that, and it’s backed by Swim Drink Fish, a national charity focused on clean water, and a $16-million donation from the Weston family. Two years of water testing have confirmed the site meets public health standards.

The Takeaway: It’s the kind of project that makes North Van feel more like the waterfront city it’s always claimed to be. A win for anyone who wants to actually get in the water, not just look at it.

What do you think?

North Van is getting a harbour swimming deck. Your honest reaction?
