š§¢ Crew Hats, Coho Fest & Fall Wreaths: Plus 50+ Things to do on the North Shore this Week
The best things to do and know on the North Shore: September 4 to 10

Whatās Happening on the North Shore: September 4 to 10, 2025
Good morning, North Shore Crew! Your weekly cheat-sheet to North & West Van is here. New Here? Subscribe here

š§¢ North Shore Crew Hats Are Back (But Not for Long)

Back by popular demand, weāre opening up orders for our North Shore Crew hats. They are produced locally by Six Hats, a North Shore-owned business.
They come in kids sizes and adult sizes (S, M and L), and in four different colours: forest green, grey, black and white, and sea foam (no sea foam available in the kids size). If you want to see them in more detail, Geoff wears one in almost every one of our Instagram videos, so you can do a little light hat stalking.
Pick your color, pay online, and you're in. (Adult sizes: $49.99 Youth sizes: $39.99, plus tax)
To be fully transparent, we donāt know how long theyāll take to produce. With our first run, we estimated 2 weeks, but they actually took around 4 weeks. This is because Six Hats is so busy - great news for a local business, but makes estimating exact timelines tricky.
Once we have the hats, weāll host pickup events at some of the North Shore breweries. Come grab your hat and and stay for a chat (and/or a drink).
Finally, if you live far away, send us a message (just hit reply) before you order and we can estimate shipping. Nothing would make us happier than sending some North Shore Crew hats to Squamish or Shanghai, Langley or Lisbon, so donāt be shy about asking.
Orders will close on September 14 at midnight, so donāt be a slow poke!

š§ North Shore Crew Question: Do You Have Kids?
We want to get to know you better, so we can share the events that make sense for you. For example, weāve gotten lots of requests for more tween and teen events, and weāre trying.
We have a super secret project weāre working on that may solve both the teen issue, and the long newsletter issue. More on that in the coming weeks, but for now, we want to know if you have kids and how old they are. Help us help you!
Do you have kids?If you have more than one kiddo, answer based on your youngest family member. |

Last Weekās Question: Where Does Everyone Live?
Last time we asked this question, we had ~2,000 subscribers. Now that weāre close to 9,000 North Shore Crew members (!!!), we were curious ā turns out most of The North Shore Crew are indeed still North Shore residents, with West Van continuing to hold roughly 10% of the Crew. Weāll continue to focus on local events and need-to-know on the North Shore, with a smattering of 'across the bridgeā as we see fit.

Now, onto the fun stuffā¦
š Coho Fest Returns to Ambleside
The North Shore's most delicious environmental celebration is back this Sunday, September 7. The Coho Festival at Ambleside has been serving up wild BC salmon since 1979, and it's grown into something special: a zero-waste event featuring 20+ stewardship groups; kids' activities with a climbing wall; beer, wine and cider in the Coho Garden; and the Squamish Nation's traditional Blessing of the Salmon ceremony at 1pm. Watch (or brave) the Coho Swim at 9am, then spend the day learning how to be better stewards for our fishie friends while enjoying waterfront views, food, drinks and live music. More info here.
š Vancouver Fringe
Vancouver Fringe Fest is happening September 4 to 14, and thereās enough cool stuff going on you might (might!) want to cross the bridge for it. This year's festival features theatre, comedy, dance, drag, and music with 87 shows ranging from solo acts to full casts (including our friend Mistyās show). All are selected by lottery, like a mystery grab bag of performancesā¦you never know what you'll get.
New this year is Kids Fringe (ages 4 to 12), taking place this weekend (Sept. 6 and 7) at Granville Island. Learn to make giant puppets, watch an interactive flamenco show, and more.

𦪠Worth Eating This Week
Get ready to shuck and sip this Sunday: BC's finest oysters are back at Copperpenny for one day only. Three types of Fanny Bay oysters paired with a cocktail or two. Perfect Sunday.
We recommend snagging an early reservation, because past experience suggests the oysters will disappear at some point in the evening. Book now, book early, and show up hungry. Walk-ins welcome if thereās room. Make a reservation.
š§ Cheese & Meat Fest
The self-explanatory Cheese and Meat Festival arrives at the Shipyards September 27. One all-inclusive ticket unlocks the full experience, letting carnivore and fromage lovers wander, graze, and discover at whatever pace feels right for you. Pick your tasting session, arrive with an appetite, and let your personal charcuterie board (included in your ticket) lead the way. There are no extra charges once youāre there, so your biggest decision will be whether to start with parm or prosciutto (the only right answer is both). Grab your tickets.
