In last week’s issue, we asked what you think of the animal art in the newsletter, and got some great feedback. Based on the poll results, most of you like the art or don’t care, so for now we’re going to keep it.

That said, we appreciate the thoughtful feedback and comments we got from those of you who don’t love the art, and will take it into consideration when it comes to level-up the look of the newsletter…at some point.

For now, we’re very focused on the written content, and finding the best events on the North Shore to share with you.

Wednesday, January 29 marks the official start of 15 days of Lunar New Year celebrations. In 2025, we’ll be welcoming the Year of the Snake 🐍

👨 North Shore Dads Meet Up: Come Say Hello!

We’re hosting a meetup for dads! Geoff, one-half of the North Shore Now team, is hosting a North Shore Dads meetup on Wednesday, January 29 at Good Co Northwoods, from 7pm to 9pm (2100 Dollarton).

🧒 Kids Life on the North Shore: Call for Vendors, Volunteers and Performers for February 15

Kids Life Foundation (they run the Kids Life on the North Shore Facebook group) is running a kid-focused event at the Pipe Shop (Shipyards) on Saturday, February 15. 🚧 Traffic Alerts for North & West Van

• (North Van - 342 Mountain Highway) Mountain Hwy between Bond St & Crown St will be reduced to one lane in each direction from January 6 to 31, 9:00am to 8:00pm. Expect delays.

• (North Van - 220 Mountain Highway) Mountain Hwy between Main St and Oxford St will have 1 lane for traffic, with flaggers assisting, from January 20 to February 7, 8pm to 6am, for Fortis Gas Installation.

• (North Van - 100 Block of 3rd St East) Construction of District Energy piping . During construction, one lane on Eastbound is open but West Bound will be closed. Parking will be closed as well. Sidewalk will be kept open. Work will continue until Feb 28.

• (North Van - 1200 Blk Berkley Rd / 2400 Blk Carnation Rd) Traffic Control will be present for single lane alternating traffic from Jan 20-24

• (West Van - Duchess Ave Between 12th and 15th Streets) Expect single-lane alternating on Duchess Avenue between 12th Street and 15th Street for utility trench paving work January 17 to 24. Construction will take place between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.
