The best things to do and know on the North Shore: July 24 to 30, 2025

Whatâs Happening on the North Shore: July 24 to 30, 2025
Good morning, North Shore Crew! Your weekly cheat-sheet to North & West Van is here. New Here? Subscribe here
Last week, we asked if youâve seen e-dirt bikes being ridden where theyâre not supposed to be, and a 63% of you said ughhhâŠ.yes with lots of readers sharing personal anecdotes of seeing helmet-less e-dirt-bike shenanigans in Norgate, Lynn Valley, Inter River, Westview, Deep Cove, and on the Spirit Trail and Green Necklace. Clearly, the RCMP has their work cut out for them.

đâŻSafety Reminder: Summer in Lynn Canyon is Deadly
Whatâs Happening? Weâre less than halfway through the summer, and first responders are dealing with repeated rescues of cliff jumpers in distress at Lynn Canyon.
The Backstory. Cliff jumping at the Canyon is dangerous due to water temps, slippery cliffs, unstable rock areas, and rapidly changing water conditions. 40+ people have died there over the past 50 years.
Why It Matters. Cliff jumping not only puts the jumpers at risk, but also endangers the first responders called in for rescues. This summer has been particularly busy for emergency crews responding to these incidents.
The Takeaway. The District has installed new warning signs targeting younger visitors of the dangers. Theyâre also asking all of us to discuss the risks with younger family members. If youâre in the Canyon and see tourists considering a jump, maybe take a minute to share a localâs perspective.

đ„ Early Bird Gets the Cruffin
Dope Bakehouse's new standalone location is open at Seylynn Village. We made it there earlier this week, and can confirm their chocolate croissant rivals Thomas Haasâ version. Our overall verdict? Cruffins, croissants, and sandwiches that don't disappoint, and a modern interior thatâs worthy of a hang. Pro tip from the barista: go early, because they're selling out daily.
