🛑 North Van RCMP are Cracking Down on E-Dirt Bikes
What’s Happening? North Vancouver RCMP are warning riders (and parents) about the surge of illegal e-dirt bikes on local streets.
The Backstory. Unlike regular e-bikes, e-dirt bikes follow the same rules as gas-powered dirt bikes: strictly off-road. The RCMP is reminding residents they’re not permitted on roads, sidewalks, bike lanes, or any public space.
Why It Matters. Parents often buy these for teens thinking they’re street legal, but riders can face fines up to $598, license demerits, and even Criminal Code charges. Enforcement is ramping up, especially around trails and pedestrian areas.
The Takeaway. These bikes aren’t toys and the RCMP’s message is clear: e-dirt bikes belong off-road.

😎 Good News for the North Shore
🔥 New Wildfire Truck Joins the North Shore’s Front Line: DNV Fire & Rescue has added Wildland 1 to its wildfire toolkit. A rugged, off-road truck, Wildland 1 carries 600 gallons of water, pumps while driving, and is suited to the unique challenge of fighting fires on the North Shore. Fire crews say it’s a major capacity boost.
🚲 Evolve Takes Over North Shore E-Bike Share: Evolve - the e-bike arm of BCAA - is the North Shore’s e-bike share program’s new operator. Find and book bikes via the Evo app.
👶 New Childcare at Mahon: The City of North Van opened a 37-spot not-for-profit childcare centre at Mahon Park. Operated by YMCA and backed by ~$2.7M in provincial funding, the centre will welcome families as early as August. The City set a goal to create 1,000+ new licensed childcare spaces by 2031; they’ve created 53 spots in 2025 to date.
🏃♂️ Harry Jerome Oval is Open in West Van: The Harry Jerome Oval at West Vancouver Place for Sport opened last week. Built to World Athletics standards, the track is designed to reduce injury and enhance training for students, athletes, and the community.

🍻 Batch is Popping Up at Ambleside
West Van is getting a new, much-needed hangout spot this weekend when Batch opens its doors. Well-loved across the bridge, the West Van location will be a see-how-it-goes popup until September 12.
