💅 Drag Comedy, Beeraritas & a Teddy Bear Picnic: Plus 50+ Things to Do on the North Shore this Week

The best things to do on the North Shore: June 19 to 25, 2025

What’s Happening on the North Shore: June 19 to 25, 2025

Happy Thursday, North Shore Crew! Your weekly cheat-sheet to North & West Van is here 🎉

(New Here? Subscribe here so the fun stuff shows up every Thursday at 6am North Shore Standard Time 😉)

Got an event, business, or wild idea we should know about? Hit reply and tell us. We read every note.

Meet Kelli Wheatley, a Registered Clinical Counsellor who traded the therapy couch for the great outdoors. Kelli helps clients improve their mental health while walking the North Shore's trails, combining professional support with the scientifically-proven healing powers of exercise, fresh air and nature.

As a North Shore native, Kelli knows these trails like the back of her hand -- and as a counsellor, she believes in engaging both the mind and the body in the pursuit of wellness.

The result? Therapy, North Shore-style.

She works with adults and teenagers, and most extended health plans cover her sessions.

🏆 Turns out you LOVE BC food brands! Last Week’s Winner is…

Well, that escalated quickly! We figured the North Shore Crew might be interested in last week’s BC food brand giveaway, but 177 entries (and so many comments)? You guys are serious about local snacks.

The prize was a curated collection of goodies from From The Ground Up's trade show featuring homegrown BC food brands. And it’s now on its way to its forever home with the lucky winner: Shirley! May your pantry be forever stocked with delicious local treats.

🥸 Crew Question

Last week, we got this gentle piece of feedback from a Crew member:

“Great newsletter, though the font is tiny. Thanks for all the information.”

Honestly, we had never considered this, but want to be sure the newsletter is readable to all without making it much longer (large font = longer email). So we’re putting it to vote. If the Crew says we need to biggen things up a bit, so shall it be enlarged.

Is the font in the newsletter too small?

Login or Subscribe to participate in polls.

☠️ RIP Tuesdays

We’re calling it quits on the extra, paid-member-only email sends. As you may have noticed, we’re doing a lot of “throwing spaghetti against the wall to see what sticks” as we figure out how to make this newsletter sustainable (aka: profitable).

The Beyond the North Shore (Tuesday) and Littlest Crew (monthly) email sends were one such experiment, but neither took off like we’d hoped, especially weighed against how much extra work we were doing. Refunds incoming for Crew members with time left on paid memberships.

For now, we’re going to focus on securing long-term advertising relationships with local businesses we think you’ll want to hear about, and maybe some more products as we think of them (like the awesome North Shore brewery art print or the Crew hats).

Everything Wine* will be serving up good times with their upcoming food and bev events. These events are perfect for anyone who wants to expand their palate (and their knowledge), enjoy the finer things, or simply loves discovering new flavours and businesses. Call (604) 929-7277 to register, or stop by Everything Wine North Van (998 Marine Drive).
