šŸ• Have a Dog? Let’s Have a Dog Meetup!

A while back, we asked if you had a dog, and nearly 60% of you said ruff, yes! So this one’s for the pup parents.

Bob the Dog (the actual dog, along with his human) is hosting a casual meetup for North Shore dog lovers and their four-legged sidekicks. Expect wagging tails, belly rubs, and good times.

When & Where: Tuesday, June 17th from 6:30 to 8:30pm at Princess Park Dog Field.

Even better? Bob will be personally selecting some of his favourite treats to bring along as samples, so your 4-legged fam can snack on some sustainable, locally-made, only-good-ingredient treats while the two legged among us can chat with other dog lovers on the North Shore.

Whether you want to meet new friends, have a chat while your pup gets their evening zoomies out, or let your very good boy test out treats that support their health, everyone’s a winner.

šŸ» North Shore Brewery Print: We Have a Few Left (and Can Deliver on the North Shore in Time for Father’s Day)

For those of you who are new here, we made a thing: a 2025 North Shore Brewery Print.

We partnered with local painter Erin Dobson to hand-paint 9 beer cans from some of your favourite North Shore breweries: Streetcar, Beere, Beva, Black Kettle, La Cerveceria Astilleros, Wildeye, House of Funk, North Point, and Bridge Brewing.

It’s 11'ā€œ x 14ā€ and is printed locally. Perfect for showcasing a little North Shore pride in your kitchen, bathroom, or over your bar fridge. We have a few extra prints on-hand, making it a great option for Father’s Day if you haven’t planned anything yet.

šŸ˜‹ Good to Grow: BC Food Brands to Try (Plus a Giveaway!)

Last week, we hit up the From the Ground Up food show, a delicious showcase of homegrown BC food and beverage brands you can find in grocery stores. In the name of very important research, we sampled ice cream bars, bougie sodas, dumplings, hot sauce, coffee, a sleepy beverage, and more, and can confidently confirm: BC's got it going on.

If eating well AND supporting local are on your list this season, here are 11 made-in-BC brands to try this summer - most of which you can buy in grocery stores on the North Shore.

šŸ‘‰ Bonus: We're giving away a prize pack consisting of some of the brands from the show. Scroll down to enter.

  • Dicky’s Dumps: Insanely good Chinese dumplings (and brand name), handmade in Vancouver, and found in the freezer section. Chicken and ginger was our fav. Find them at Stong’s, Foxy Farm Market, and Windsor Meats in the freezer section.

  • Whisked Away: Decadent, ganache filled cookies, including both vegan and non-vegan versions. This is a super small business run by Catherine, and she’'ll be at the Shipyards Night Market this week (Friday, June 13) if you want to try her cookies.

  • Ideally Beverage: Ideally makes Canada’s first ā€œbedtime beverageā€ - a lightly carbonated, lavender, chamomile and citrus blend with a natural blend of magnesium and L-theanine to help you Zzzzzzz. Often at the Shipyards night market, so keep an eye out.

  • Hazel’s Ice Cream: Hand-dipped ice cream bars made in Victoria. Find them at some Safeways (Parkgate and Westview), Fresh St. Market West Van, Thrifty’s (Edgemont and Marine Drive), and Stong’s. Their coffee toffee and orange float flavours are gluten free.

  • Tocha Foods: Tocha makes hot sauce that doesn’t scorch your taste buds, with 3 varieties to choose from: original, yuzu, and verde. Find them at Stong’s and both Makers locations (Park Royal and Shipyards) or buy online.

  • Say it Ain’t Soda: These were another personal favourite from the show. Like an elevated Bubly with more flavour, and made from 100% real fruit and botanicals. Find them at Choices Market, Fresh Street Market Esplanade, IGA West Van (Marine Drive), and Stong’s.

  • Maureen Simon Foods: Bringing traditional Caribbean flavours to BC through sauces, with Jamaican patties coming to the freezer section soon. Fun fact: Maureen started Caribbean Days in North Van, but unfortunately had to move it to Coquitlam in 2020. Find it at Save-On, Stongs, and Choices.

  • Tofino Hot Sauce Company: Hot sauces and spice blends that bring some heat: Lime & Cilantro (Mild), Mango & Turmeric (Medium), and Hibiscus & Tamarind (Hot). Buy at Savary Island Pie Company.

  • Level Ground Coffee Roasters: Small batch roasters based in Victoria. They purchase beans from small, family-owned farms who sell through co-ops. Find them pretty much everywhere….

  • Canadian Wise Foods: Spice blends and meat marinades to cook quick, quality Indian meals at home. Buy at IGA.

  • Meru Chocolates: Hand-crafted, made-in-Vancouver chocolate bars with natural ingredients. Vegan and gluten-friendly. Buy online only.
