🐰 Beyond the North Shore is Here
On Tuesday, we sent our very first Beyond the North Shore email, our weekly, roundup of the coolest things happening off the North Shore, but close enough for an easy adventure.
Here’s a nibble of what landed in Crew+ inboxes:
🍖 Unlimited jamón ibérico happening this weekend, downtown.
🐐 Goat yoga AND bunny yoga: both within an hour of home.
🍕 A weekly pizza making event for kids, so they can embrace their inner chefs.
🍻 A one-day beer fest pouring the rarest beers from around BC.
🎾 A free “Tennis Try-It” day for absolute beginners.
👩🌾 8 long table dinners (plus 1 Dîner en Blanc) to plan your BC summer getaways around.
Sound like your jam? Upgrade to Crew+ and Beyond the North Shore will hit your inbox every Tuesday at 6 a.m. You’ll also unlock:
Littlest Crew – a monthly list of the best stuff for babies & toddlers on the North Shore.
Silver Crew – a once-a-month covering the best stuff for seniors to do on the North Shore (launching mid-June)
Any new stuff we come up with (we’ve got lots of ideas).
Why a paid tier?
You asked for it. Plenty of readers have told us, “Love the newsletter, but do you have anything across the bridge?” Now we do.
To keep the lights on. We love doing the newsletter, but it takes a lot of time and money. The reality is, we need to cover those costs, and the free newsletter ain’t doing it. The paid membership is a way to support the newsletter and keep it going, while getting more fun and value.
Crew+ is $5.99/month or $59/year - roughly one fancy coffee a month. If the free newsletter has already sent you on a couple of great outings, we think you’ll more than earn that back in memories.
Ready to hop over? 👉 Unlock Crew+ & Beyond the North Shore
Not the right time? Thursday’s newsletter stays free and fun, just like always.
👨🌾 Meet Us at the Market (Lonsdale Quay Market, that is)
This Wednesday (June 4th) from 3pm to 7pm, we’re going IRL. We're trading keyboards for a market stall at Lonsdale Quay May, and want to put some faces to emails. Hunt us down between the fresh BC produce and artisan treats. We'll be wearing our North Shore Crew hats, chatting to all the market goers about the newsletter, and should have a few brewery prints on hand, too!
🍻 2025 Brewery Print: Order by June 5 to Get it by Father’s Day
If you’ve ordered a 2025 North Shore Brewery Print, the first batch is heading to the printers shortly. If you want one in time for Father’s Day, be sure to order by June 5 for guaranteed delivery/pick-up.
In case you’re new here, we partnered with local painter Erin Dobson to hand-paint 9 beer cans from some of your favourite North Shore breweries: Streetcar, Beere, Beva, Black Kettle, La Cerveceria Astilleros, Wildeye, House of Funk, North Point, and Bridge Brewing. We turned it into an 11” x 14” print that’s perfect for showcasing a little North Shore on your walls.
Regular price is $50. Currently on for $45 and we’ll keep that pricing going for Father’s Day orders.

🍽️ Restaurant Shuffle
The Cornerstone Bistro has served its final meal, but the space won't stay empty for long. Monika's Art Boutique is expanding into the location with an ambitious concept that blends licensed cafe, grocery, events, and art classes, turning one business closure into seems to be a multi-faceted neighbourhood hub.
Thai House Restaurant on Esplanade quietly closed its doors earlier this week. While details remain under wraps, whispers suggest a new restaurant will take its place, so watch this space.
🌮 Limited Editions
There are some time-sensitive treats calling your name across the North Shore. Black Kettle is stretching out the Cinco de Mayo celebration with their Tacos de Mayo lineup, and we’re in “last chance” territory. Sink your teeth into the big maco, pollo loco, or barbacoa tacos, or go bold with a barbacoa burger and jalapeño poppers.
Over at Isetta in West Van, the "North American Burger Rally" has rolled into its latest stop with The Patty Melt: a towering stack of rye bread, Canadian and Swiss cheeses, double burger patties, caramelized onions, pickles, and burger sauce. This road trip special only sticks around for two weeks, so don't let it drive away without you.
Meanwhile, is Limoncello season at La Cervaceria Astilleros. They’ve launched a Limoncello Sour collab with their current Chinatown neighbours, Fiorino Italian Street Food (Fiorino is also opening soon at the Quay). Available while supplies last.
🥁 Last Week’s Winners Are ….
Congrats to Cayley and Kelsey - the two winners of last week’s 2 x $50 gift certificates to Chocolats Favoris in Gastown. Enjoy your ice cream!

🌲 Free Trees and Shrubs from the Districts of North and West Van
Your backyard can get a budget-friendly boost. Both North and West Vancouver Districts are literally giving away trees (both) and shrubs (North Van only) to help expand our local tree canopy.
North Van District homeowners can get up to four trees and four shrubs absolutely free, while condo dwellers can snag up to four shrubs. The catch? Submit your request now for fall pickup.
West Van District has a slightly different approach, offering up to 200 deciduous trees to eligible private property owners. It's first-come, first-served, so speed matters if you want to add some shade to your yard.
🚶 MONOVA Is On the Move
MONOVA has launched summer walking tours that bring North Van's past to life as you walk.

The Lower Lonsdale tour invites you to explore the neighbourhood's most notable characters and stories. This tour runs Fridays and Saturdays at 11am and 1pm.
