Behind-the-Scenes with Peter Oates, Carmelo’s owner
Q: What’s something most people don’t know about Carmelo’s?
A: Many of our team members have been with us for years and years (and years). For example, our manager Shauna started as a busser in 1995. Carmelo’s is like the Hotel California….once you check in you can never leave (but in a good way)!
Q: Besides Carmelo's, what's your favourite bar or restaurant on the North Shore?
Jagerhof and Kitchen Craft Eatery - they’re both owned by Carmelo’s alumni. And like Carmelo’s, they are both independent and family-operated.
Q: What do you order when you eat at Carmelo's?
Our milk-fed veal piccata or marsala are definite favourites, as is the classic spaghetti bolognese. Our house made pizza bread and aioli is a given, accompanied by a glass of Chianti, of course!

Events For Kids & Family: April 10 to April 16
Soapify Studio Family Workshop: Yay or Nay?

Last week, we told you about Soapify Studio’s colourful, family-friendly workshops happening across the water. This week, we want to know: should we invite them to the North Shore for a Crew family workshop? Estimated cost is around $70 for up to 3 family members to make 6 super colourful, kid-friendly soaps together. This would cover space rental (we think), materials, and Lily’s fee. The price might adjust slightly, but we’d do our best to keep it around $70.
