When local restaurants have fresh fish trimmings, they call Bob the Dog to transform them into premium pet treats.
"We rescue over 2,500 pounds of restaurant fish trimmings annually to create human-grade treats your dog will love," says Carra, North Shore Now subscriber and co-founder of North-Shore-famous healthy dog co, Bob the Dog.
In 2025, why feed your furry friend preservative-filled treats with mystery ingredients? Bob the Dog's Kettle Cod, Teeny Salmon Treats, Hali-But Bites, and Salmon Skin are sustainable, natural, and ethically produced right here on the North Shore.
Every purchase helps reduce waste, supports your pup's health, and keeps a local North Shore family business thriving.
Show your pup and a local business some love, and shop Bob the Dog today – use discount code NORTHSHORENOW to get 10% off your first online order! (valid until April 13, 2025)

🐻 Name That Bear

The North Shore Now bear needs a name, and it’s time for the final vote. Last week, we received 176 responses from you, with 4 clear favourites.
🐻 Vote for your favourite name below |
Whoever originally submitted the winning name will win a super secret prize North Shore Crew hat!
🎲 North Shore Not-Opoly
We love a good board game, even when it leads to family feuds (IYKYK). For fun, we've been creating a North Shore-themed property game that goes well beyond slapping local names on that classic real estate game we all know.
We aim to capture the true North Shore experience:
Get stuck in soul-crushing bridge traffic (on TWO separate bridges)
Travel between neighbourhoods using an e-bike share
Watch your savings disappear when an atmospheric river floods your property
Use your transit card to bypass your competitors' absurdly overpriced condos
Score the High Density Permit and stack condos faster than your neighbours thought possible
We're this close to ordering a sample, but we need the perfect name. Nothing “-opoly” allowed.
We want something fun and cheeky that gently roasts our "unique" North Shore property market. (Because laughing about housing prices beats crying, right?)
Submit your name ideas here. The winning submission gets a prize!
We'll share photos of the sample soon and keep you updated. Eventually, we hope to host a North Shore Crew game night (strict "no monocles" dress code).
🧢 Hats, Hats, Hats!
Thanks to a suggestion from North Shore Crew member, Sebastian, we think we’ve found our hat supplier. We went to see the (baseball) hats in person last week, and they’re awesome: owned by a North Vancouverite with North Shore Crew members on staff. Great hats + great vibes = meant to be.
They also have youth hats, which means your kids can rock a North Shore Crew hat, too (Thanks to Johnnie for that suggestion!).
We’re waiting on mockups and pricing, which we’ll share as soon as we can.
Reminder: we’ll do a super limited run based on how many people express interest in getting a hat. Just vote “yes” below and we’ll get in touch to firm up numbers when the time comes. Don’t worry if you’ve already voted in previous weeks - we’ll interpret double yeses as enthusiasm!
🧢 Put me on the list for a North Shore Crew hat(This vote is not legally-binding) |
