  • 🍸 A Happy Hour Worth Trying: Scratch Kitchen: If you haven’t hit up Scratch Kitchen Lonsdale yet, it’s worth a stop. Located in the former 16 West spot, the pizza is some of the best we’ve had on the North Shore. Happy Hour runs Sunday to Thursday from 4pm to 5:30pm with $7 house wines, $10 Aperol Spritzes, and $10 margaritas. The food menu includes crispy cauliflower "wings" ($12) and Margherita pizza ($17), and they have very good gluten-free crust for the gluten-intolerant among us. They placed second in the North Shore News Readers Choice Awards for best pizza (behind Nicli), and also have a Deep Cove location. See their full Happy Hour menu here.

  • 🎿 The End (of the Ski Season) is Nigh - We’re getting close to the end of the season which means: it’s time to dress up in your most ridiculous outfit for one last bash on the hills:

    • March 29 - Ski Ballet & Retro Dat at Cypress (kids welcome with parental waiver): Plan your outfit, choose a song, and get ready to groove...ski ballet is back. Travel back in time for inspiration and be part of the greatest ski discipline that somehow vanished into obscurity: the majestic ski ballet (board ballet also welcome).     • March 29 - Women’s Shredcatz Jam Over the City (Ages 13+): No ridiculous costumes here: this 2nd annual all-female Jam Over the City is a great way to dip your toes into competing. Ages 13 and over, ski and board, all genders identifying as she/her/they/them are welcome! More info.

    • April 5 - Red Bull Homerun at Cypress (16+ with parental waiver) : Sprint to your skis and snowboards, clip in, and race down a marked course to the finish line where a huge après awaits. This year’s theme is lumberjack, so don your best True North gear: hockey jerseys; plaid; red and white everything; and denim on denim (on denim). Read more.   • 🎷 North Shore Jazz Just Announced (for June) - North Shore Jazz, the BlueShore’s concert series produced in partnership with the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, returns June 20-29. There are a total of 3 concerts at the BlueShore at CapU (plus 4 free ones across the North Shore). Tickets are on sale for BlueShore shows: Mary Ancheta’s MAQkestra [Tickets], Mick Flannery [Tickets], and Corey Harris [Tickets].

🚧 Traffic Alerts for North & West Van - CHECK

  • (North Van - Lynn Valley Road and Williams Road) Lynn Valley Rd will be reduced to single lane traffic each way on March 20, 2025. Expect minor delays.

  • (North Van - 405 to 485 Marie Place) Parking will be restricted along Marie Pl and Crown St as of March 17. Work will begin March 24 for 4 weeks, with parking restrictions and single lane alternating traffic Monday to Friday from 7am to 5pm.

  • (North Van - 342 Mountain Highway) Sidewalks will be replaced on Mountain Hwy between Bond St & Crown St until end of March. Traffic control will assist.

  • (North Van - Riverside Drive at Windridge Drive) Riverside Dr is reduced to single lane alternating traffic between 9:00am and 5:00pm until the end of March.

  • (North Van - Mount Seymour Pkwy between Lytton St & Emerson Way) Mount Seymour Pkwy is reduced to one lane eastbound from 7:00am to 5:00pm until June 30 for sidewalk and road improvements. Expect delays.

  • (North Van - 229 Seymour River Place) Front St will be closed intermittently for deliveries during the week for 2-3 hours per day until end of April.

  • (North Van - Lonsdale & Marine Drive) Replacement of 20 aging street light poles along Lonsdale Ave and Marine Drive, until March 28. Curb lane and parking lane closures during construction, between 7am and 3pm.

  • (North Van - W 27th Between Larson Rd & Lonsdale and Jones Ave Between W 25th and 28th) Single lane alternating traffic in place until March 28. Temporary parking restrictions, sidewalk closures and diversions. 7am-5pm (Mon-Fri).

  • (North Van - Lonsdale Ave and 12 St) Utility upgrades to the storm main until April 7. Multi-lane closure, centerline crossover, and sidewalk closure on Lonsdale, with one lane maintained in each direction. Temporary parking restrictions and some turn restrictions. 7am-7pm (Mon-Fri).

  • (North Van - 100 Block East 23rd) Sidewalk and lane closure from March 24 to 27. Bi-directional traffic maintained on 23rd Street. Hours of work: 7am-5pm

  • (West Van - Cross Creek Road and Chartwell Drive) Single-lane alternating traffic on Cross Creek Road, between 12th Street and Highland Drive, and on Chartwell Drive between the roundabout and Chartwell Crescent on March 27.

  • (West Van - Marine Drive at 15th St) On March 24 and 25, expect road closure, pedestrian impacts, and bus stop closure on northbound 15th St, between Marine Drive and the north lane for routine groundwater monitoring and sampling. 9am to 4pm.

  • (West Van - 19th St Between Nelson Ave and Palmerston Ave) From March 24 to May 23, expect a partial road closure on 19th Street between Nelson Avenue and Palmerston Ave. Follow detour signage for northbound traffic via Nelson Ave, St. Denis Rd, and Palmerston Ave. 7:30am to 5:30pm (Mon-Fri).
