These small-group sessions introduce numbers, shapes, patterns, and early problem-solving through games and play, helping kids build confidence before math ever feels intimidating.

🥋 A North Van Karate legend immortalized in the Hall
One of the toughest people in town has been quietly hiding in plain sight.
Five decades. Three national karate titles. First woman ever named a judge by the World Karate Federation. Tech official at the Tokyo Olympics. Already in the B.C. Sports Hall of Fame.
And now, at 73, our own Norma Foster has been named to the Canadian Black Belt Hall of Fame.
She's been teaching karate in B.C. since 1998 and shows no signs of slowing down. The official induction is set for October 10th in Richmond.
Congrats, Norma, well deserved! More info

🍰 Emilee's Sweet House coming to Lower Lonsdale
The former Gringo spot at 2nd & Lonsdale has a new tenant. Emilee's Sweet House, the East Van Turkish bakery known for baklava, Turkish coffee and pastries, has a Coming Soon sign in the window with their name curiously spelled wrong (spelled "Emillee's" with a bonus L, which we're choosing to read as extra-enthusiastic rather than a sign-shop oops). No opening date yet, no longer a patio spot, but baklava is incoming. Keep an eye on their instagram.
🍹Tiki Weekend in the Shipyards Brewery District
