Spring Exploratory Art Classes

For 10 weeks this Spring, kids have a chance to get hands-on in all things post impressionist, more specifically, van Gogh type stuff but in all the mediums: acrylic paint, pottery, watercolour and polymer clay.

It’s a new weekly after school program starting in April from 3:30pm to 5:00pm Mondays, Tuesdays or Fridays, or from 9:00am to 10:30am Saturdays designed for ages 5-12.

Right now they are 40% off with discount code: SUNFLOWER

🫡 Losing The Original Browns - End of an Era

The original Browns Socialhouse location on Lonsdale & 18th in North Van will close its doors after 22 years of service. Opened in 2004, the restaurant was the first in what has grown into a chain of more than 80 locations across North America. Owners say the decision is bittersweet but it’s time to allocate resources to the North Shore’s other two Brown’s locations, Lonsdale & 2nd, and Lynn Valley. Closing date is March 27th.

🚞 Sea to Sky Rail + Bike Route? Yes Please.

A new proposal could save the North Van–to–Prince George rail line from being scrapped (CN decided not to renew the lease) and turn it into something way more interesting. The idea is to bring in smaller regional operators (with significant First Nations involvement) to keep trains running (including passenger rail potentially) and possibly add a scenic bike route from West Van to Lillooet alongside it. Trains and a world-class ride…we’re in!

✍️ Plan Ahead: North Shore Writers Festival April 10-11

👉 Get the North Shore Now App for free on IOS or Android!

But wait! Will I still get the newsletter?

Yes. The newsletter will still land in your inbox as usual, and the app will still be updated. However, the newsletter will be a bit leaner than it usually is with out many ‘extras’ - just events, depending on how much time I’ll have.

We’ll definitely be quieter on Instagram int he next couple weeks, and may not be able to respond to emails as quickly.

✌️North Shore - see you in April!
